In the event that you refuse any shipments from Organic Weave Shop, you are responsible for entire purchase price, including the cost of the rug, shipping charges, duties and taxes. If the rug is returned to Organic Weave Shop, new shipping charges, duty and taxes will apply if we attempt to ship your rug again. No refunds will be offered on refused shipments.

While “natural fiber” rugs are readily available, the way they are marketed can be misleading: though they are called “natural,” there is no guarantee that they are free of harmful chemicals. You may think that buying a wool or cotton rug means that the rug is all natural. However, the raw materials in conventional rugs are processed with chemicals and the yarn in the rugs is most often dyed with chemicals.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the most comprehensive, internationally recognized standard in the textile industry today. It only certifies textile products that are made of at least 70% organic fibers, in which case the label will say ‘made with organic’. But if the label says ‘organic’, like on our products, it means that at least 95% of the product is organic.
Our entire production process is monitored – from the first cultivation of our fibers, to the final dyeing and washing stages of our process. Only non toxic materials are allowed by GOTS. Our certification is a promise that we:

The floor is often considered the fifth wall of the room. Choosing the right sized rug often means sizing up. The right sized rug will define the seating area, make your room look larger and anchor the furniture in your space.
Here are some tips for selecting the perfect size rug:
Living Room -
9 x 12 or 10 x 14
Choose the size based on your room size, leaving a perimeter of 18" to 24" of hardwood or ceramic showing.
8 x 10 or 9 x 12
Choose a rug on which all of the front legs of the furniture will rest on the rug.
Dining Room -
8 x 10 or 9 x 12
Choose a rug size based on the size of your table and chairs. You'll want a rug large enough that you can pull the chairs away from the dining table and have the chairs STAY ON THE RUG - add 24" to the table dimensions for the rug size.
Bedroom -
8 x 10 or 9 x 12 (Queen Bed)
Choose a rug that will act as a focal point in the room and provide a soft landing spot for your feet to land.
9 x 12 or 10 x 14 (King Bed)

Our Dyes
Organic Weave uses dyes and mordants, which are approved by the Global Organic Textile Standard. These dyes are a healthy alternative to chemically-produced dyes used in conventional rugs.
Organic Weave’s organic dyes give a beautiful patina effect and become sun-bleached over time. Our plant-based dyes vary from one batch to another, so there can be some some variance between the target color and the actual color. These minor variations are what give each of our rugs its unique character.
Handknotted Rugs
Knotting rugs by hand is an ancient art. Depending on the technique and size of the rug, a handknotted rug may take weeks, months, or even years to complete.
To begin making a rug, our skilled weavers make a foundation – called “the warp” – which consists of thick threads of cotton, wool, or silk which run through the length of the rug. Similar threads, which pass under and over the warp threads in the opposite direction, are called wefts.
Weaving usually begins from the bottom of the loom. Dyed wool, cotton, or silk is knotted in rows around the warp strands. As more knots are added to this foundation, they become the pile of the rug. Depending upon the fineness of the weave, the quality of the materials, and the expertise of the weavers, the knot count of a handknotted rug can range from sixteen to eight-hundred per square inch.
When a rug is completely knotted, the warp ends remain as the fringe. This fringe may be braided, tasseled, or secured in other ways.
Handtufted Rugs
Our handtufted rugs are made by punching strands of wool or cotton into an organic cotton canvas which is stretched on a frame. Skilled weavers “tuft” using a hand-operated “tufting-gun.”
Once the weaver has tufted the pattern onto the canvas, another fabric (the secondary backing) is attached to the back of the rug. The secondary backing is made from 100% organic cotton and is attached with a GOTS approved latex glue, which is non-toxic and does not off gas.
Flatweave Rugs
Flatweave rugs are made by hand without a “pile.” Some common names for flatweave include kelim, dhurrie, and tapestry.
Flatweave rugs are woven by skilled artisans on a horizontal or a vertical loom by threading cotton, wool, or silk through the warp. They may either have a fringe or a folded edge.
Wall to Wall Carpeting
Our wall to wall carpeting is handtufted in 100% organic wool. The surface wool pile is locked in place with a secondary backing of certified organic cotton.
Our handtufted rugs are made by punching strands of wool or cotton into an organic cotton canvas which is stretched on a frame. Skilled weavers “tuft” using a hand-operated “tufting-gun.”
